About Brian
Brian O'Callaghan leads Wellington Legal Advisors as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, bringing a career distinguished by government advisory work, international legal practice, and complex commercial matters. Before joining the firm, Brian served as a legal counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Washington DC and as an adviser with the Attorney-General's Department — roles that gave him a rare, first-hand understanding of how government, regulation, and private enterprise intersect at the highest levels. Brian is recognised by peers and highly valued by clients for his unique skillset and perspective, particularly his ability to translate complex regulatory environments into clear, strategic, solutions-based advice. At Wellington Legal Advisors, Brian advises government agencies, large corporates, and private clients on major procurement projects, Defence acquisitions, corporate governance establishment, funding arrangements, and complex multinational negotiations involving intellectual property and commercial settlement agreements. His public sector and corporate experience equips him to guide clients through matters where the stakes are high and the legal landscape is genuinely complex. Under Brian's leadership, the firm has grown into one of Sydney's most respected boutique practices, known for the calibre of its advice and the depth of its client relationships.

Brian is passionate about public policy and international relations. Outside the office, he enjoys sailing on Sydney Harbour, mentoring emerging lawyers, and attending performances at the Sydney Opera House.
